Cold Shoulder tops and dresses were quite a hit in the 90’s and they have obviously made a comeback. With both South Asian and Western clothing – cold shoulders are still so in! When wearing cold shoulder South Asian outfits, I suggest the neckline of the outfit to be modest – Take note that in all three outfits shown here, I’ve worn a modest or even high neckline. On this topic and others, I have recently received many questions about Indian outfits and I’m excited to share some of the answers with you here!
Where can I find cute cold shoulder Indian outfits?
Honestly, you can find them all over. I’ve found all three of these cold shoulder outfits in Dallas – so it isn’t hard, you just have to be patient and search at different boutiques. I have never bought a Salma Dawood outfit because I like the less gaudy stuff but I found one of her classic outfits and it had cold shoulders. Did you know you can find designer Pakistani outfits in various boutiques around Dallas?! You don’t necessarily have to get it from the designers themselves! I found it at a boutique in Carrollton for a great price!
Can I wear my long Indian gowns or are they completely out of style now?
In my opinion, I don’t think that they will ever be totally out of style. I wore this beautiful printed gown to three different weddings recently; comfortable to wear all night and especially comfortable to dance in. The outfit itself is very plain but the cold shoulder cutouts with the intricate work around it makes the outfit trendy! If you’re looking to dress up but are someone who likes to be comfortable when dressing fancy, I suggest looking for printed gowns where you find something about the outfit that stands out (like the fancy cold shoulder on this one)! In summary, gowns are still in and you just have to find the right ones… perhaps one with a cold shoulder!
Are all your clothes from specific designers around Pakistan or India?
Not at all, I don’t really focus on designers – I like to focus on the piece itself! Here’s the third cold shoulder outfit that I recently bought and wore on Eid – simple, sophisticated, and cute because of the cold shoulders. This one was also from a local boutique in Carrollton and was definitely not a designer outfit. Oh, and I got it for just under $150 =)
